Thanksgiving Leftovers.

An ad from the TV Guide, this week 1981.

Any NYC area kid from the era will tell you this was a big deal. Not so much "Son of Kong," by which time you were almost certainly eating, but boy, missing the King on Thanksgiving was a bitch.

mike was just talking about how they never show "son of kong" anymore. hopefully it will be part of peter jackson's new "kong" trilogy.
personally i'd take "mighty joe young" over any of those films. he could crush godzilla.

I watched the original King Kong last week and it's still the saddest movie I've ever seen. And it's all because of that prick Denham.

He takes a poor struggling young woman to Skull Island under false pretenses.

He causes the destruction of an entire native village without so much as batting an eyelash.

He dopes up a giant gorilla, chains him up for the amusement of a bunch of New Yorkers and then trots out Darrow just to fuck with the smitten ape.

Then, when King Kong escapes and manages to flee in horror up the Empire State Building, Denham has the brilliant idea of shooting him down with biplanes.

Finally, he looks at the crushed beast lying on the street and has the rocks to say that it was beauty that killed the beast.

What an asshole!

Hey, they just released "Son of Kong" and "Mighty Joe Young." It's part of a "King Kong" box set, as far as I can tell. They better sell them individually. Poor Son of Kong. He drowned when his iceberg sank. Or did that prick Denham shoot him too?
