Greetings from Ohio on a snowy February afternoon--though not nearly as snowy as when a certain blizzard blew over the Northeast and dumped two feet of snow on Long Island back in 1978. The post linked in the previous sentence already has some scans from this week's issue, and I'm including them here as well.
The lovely Nicola Pagett (as Anna Karenina) graces the cover, with a story by Bill Kaufman to go with it.
The TV Line features dumb questions about Jaclyn Smith and Jack Bannon, as well as vital info on Ruth Buzzi, Jed Allan, and Ernest Thomas.
Cable TV Highlights include Bugsy Malone, a personal favorite, and a really weird-sounding (especially the way Newsday writes it) Peter Sellers movie that I've never heard of.
Abbott and Costello met Frankenstein on Sunday morning (when else?).
Here's all day Monday, Tuesday, and Wednesday, the days of the big blizzard. Late Monday night features a
John Cashman reference to
shirtless Alan Ladd, because that was a thing.
Thursday afternoon listings, accompanied by a Viskupic drawing for a late movie.
All day Saturday.
Now for some ads: The Dining Car 1890 features a pair of lovebirds, unaware that they're being watched over by the ghosts of Washington and Lincoln (plus a fairly prominent typo)...
...and there's a whole advertising section for home improvement businesses with many ads over many pages, but I just went with two, for their neat art.
First, Lawlor Stone Setting of Holtsville provided the fireplace to add some coziness to your next wife-swapping party...
...and Foam King insulation of Shirley gives us yet another Obscure Long Island Advertising Character: King Foam! Or Foam Genie King... or something.
That's all for now! Go read that post about the blizzard linked in the first paragraph. Lots of cool stuff in there! See ya next time...
